A question about an old sewing machine?

I have an old Homemark sewing machine that I got at a garage sale and I can't get it off zig zap. Its a Brothers model C and the number on the machine is 523087-D-RT.

Sounds like a jammed cam or solidified grease and oil. You might try checking out the yahoo group "wefixit", a group of pro and amateur sewing machine mechanics who deal with this sort of stuff all the time.

Tip it upside down, blow away all the lint possible, then spray all the moving parts with WD40……
Wipe them with a rag or brush, paying particular attention to anything gucky…..remove it all…..
Be extra diligent around the bobin carrier.
Once it’s all clean, use a little real oil (3 in 1), around the bushings and sliding parts.

Or, take it to a sewing machine guy……:)
