Brother Sewing Machines

Many people are unaware that Brother sewing machines were a development that originated in Japan back in 1908 as the Yasui Sewing Machine Company. Over a period of time it was sold to others, and by 1954 was known as Brother International Corporation.

The first machines that were designed were used in the making of straw hats. They were basically used in industrial workplaces during these times, but eventually progressed to being a popular item in the home. As the years progressed the advancements with the machines that they made progressed as well. Buttonholes and lock stitching functions were added during the times of the World Wars.

When it became Brother International is when they started to sell the sewing machines that they had designed overseas. They found huge success with doing this. They continued to be successful with this for quite a number of years. With this continued success came the continuous advancements that they could incorporate into the machines they manufactured. The company that we know today as Brother did not come along until the very early 70’s.

They continued to make advancements with both the industrial and home types of sewing machines that they designed. Computerized applications were introduced to both of these and became another huge success for the already popular company.

Being able to do embroidery without using the old hand method was a huge success with the technology that they developed. Also being able to have the design of a pattern followed intricately without a lot of guidance from the user of the machine was hugely successful as well.

The Brother Company were not limited to sewing machines, and they became popular with other forms of electronics as well all over the world. Typewriters and printers are just two popular items that they manufacture as well. They had their hands into a wide variety of different things.

The key to the success that this company has achieved is that they try to keep the prices of their products low for consumers.
