"White" brand sewing machine?
White Brand sewing machine?
Does anyone else have problems with "White" sewing machines. I mean, I know mine is only about 100 bucks in the store, but it should at least give me something to be happy about once in awhile! I always am battling with something about the machine. If I spend 500 bucks on a new sewing machine, would I have better luck??? And what brand?

Get a Singer, they are brilliant machines
I have a White that is close to 30 years old. It was my mom’s and it went thru 3 kids beating on it. What kind of problems are you having with it? Service it yearlly and it should work like a charm. My only really boneheaded moment was when it wouldn’t sew right and come to find out, I had the needle in backwards! The service tech said he sees alot of those.
I don’t believe you need to spend a lot of money on a machine. Walmart, Target etc have machines for a reasonable price and they do the job! You may want to try using canned air and spraying the "insides" of your White, change the needle to the specific fabric your using; also if you use a cheap thread it can affect the way the machine operates. The bobbin thread may need to be re-threaded or inserted correctly (I have a Singer and occasionally the bobbin seems to come lose). You don’t really need to oil the machine. I think the owners manuals will indicate that it’s been done at the factory and should probably be done by a professional. Good luck to you!
If your not too familiar with the machine take out the manual.. In the back is a cheat sheet of sorts.. It will give you scenarios of errors or problems and it will tell you on the otherside what might be the problem.. I clean my machine at least every other day. Granted I sew for a living and use it everyday.. I have a Janome 6500 which is up there as far as machines are concerned but I also have a little Europro that I just bought off someone for $40, they said it was broken.. My husband took it apart and apparently someone else had taken it apart and removed and replaced wrong a clutch brace on the machine .. They also bent it so my husband turned it around and it works like a charm.. Actually I like some of the stitches better than my $1200 machine.. Please read the manual. It might be something as simple as being threaded wrong, the bobbin might be in backwards ect and like the last lady said the needle could be in backwards which is quite hard to do with the flat sided needles they have today..
Hope this helps
go to walmart and get a brother from 100 to 200 according to what you want it to do. hasnt given me any trouble and it was less than 200 i know. it doesnt do anything fancy, just straight and zig zag.
